The key fob that was included with the key fob that came with your Nissan is an essential part of the car's advanced keyless entry system. A key fob offers other convenience features, like security against lockouts. This feature makes sure you don't leave your vehicle with keys inside.
Smart keys operate wirelessly, unlike previous models that required you to insert the key into an ignition slot to access your vehicle's internal systems. When you walk by the vehicle, your Nissan detects the Intelligent Key fob's proximity to it and activates its internal functions. This could include locking or opening the doors, lowering and raising the tailgate, or even starting the engine.

If your Nissan's Intelligent Key fob isn't working as it should, you probably need to replace its batteries. Most fobs use CR2025 or CR2032 batteries, and instructions on how to replace the batteries can be found in the owner's manual.
Intelligent Key Fob
With the Nissan Intelligent Key Fob you can unlock your car's doors and begin its engine with the push of one button. You can also activate a collection of presets that cater to your preferences, like altering the mirrors or seat for maximum comfort. You can even manage the music via your smartphone, so you'll never have to leave your car.
Intelligent Key Fobs have an antenna built-in that sends a signal to your vehicle whenever you hit a button or walk towards it. Once the vehicle has received the signal it is activated to unlock and lock doors, kicking off the engine, or opening the trunk. If you'd like to test out the fob, stand a distance from your vehicle and press the buttons. If the lights flash, or the horn sounds sound, you have successfully programmed the Intelligent Key Fob.
Like all remotes, Intelligent Key fobs require batteries to function. Our Parts Department will help you quickly and efficiently replace it if it runs out of batteries. To do this, first remove the key that is hidden from your key fob, then access the battery compartment. Replace the old battery with a brand new one after you have removed the old one. Assure that the positive side of the new battery faces in the same direction as it did with the original one. Finally shut the battery compartment and return the hidden key to its hidden location inside the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start enables drivers to heat or cool their vehicles from outside as long as they are within the operating range. The ignition in the car is activated when a driver presses an appropriate button on the key fob or smartphone application. The remote start system can also turn on the climate control which allows the driver to decide on their preferred temperature. Certain systems have two-way communication, which lets the driver see what's happening inside their vehicle.
A low battery is the most frequent reason for your remote to stop not working. The key fob has the battery, which is small and replaceable that lasts approximately two years before needing to be replaced. The battery can be replaced easily, but you will be required to be aware of where the hidden key is on your Intelligent Key Fob and how to open the battery compartment.
To do this, flip your fob over and press the key release latch on the back of the keypad. Once the keypad is open take out the old batteries and replace them with fresh ones. Be sure that the new battery matches the size and shape of the previous one. Lockout Protection
Lockout protection stops locks that are caused by impedance failure. A specific module within the power control unit checks for impedance relay activity and then shuts down the output. This feature is only available on vehicles that have the Smart Key system or through the personalization menu on the vehicle.
Many serious accidents have occurred because a machine started up when it was supposed to be completely off to prevent repairs or maintenance. These incidents are usually the result of stored energy that is not properly released. Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) that ensures that machines are completely off until a designated individual releases them, helps to prevent these accidents.
The LOTO system consists of a number of locks tags, locks and other devices that are used to isolate, secure or block the machine from an electrical source. All "affected" and "authorized" personnel must be educated on the use of these devices. These devices include but not restricted to chains, locks padlocks and wedges, adapter pins, and self-locking fasteners. Each device is uniquely identified and labeled, containing the date and time of the application and the name of the authorized individual and the reason for the lockout or tag-out (repair maintenance, repair, etc.). It is essential to clearly state that the devices cannot be removed until the LOTO procedure is completed.
